Après l’échec commercial de La Porte du paradis, son plus grand film avec The Deer Hunter, Michael Cimino tourne un film plus grand public, L’Année du dragon, dont il co-écrit le scénario avec Oliver Stone à partir d’un roman lui-même tiré de faits réels. Violent, épique, le film, s’il n’est pas le plus personnel de Cimino, porte indéniablement la marque de ce grand réalisateur, à travers sa mise en scène mais aussi ses thématiques. Une des compositions les plus émouvantes de Mickey Rourke.

Malgré une réalisation pas suffisamment créative et un scénario très inégal, The Informers a le mérite de retranscrire l’atmosphère et les thématiques du livre éponyme de Bret Easton Ellis.
